Mothers have called for changes to the UK's tax system, with the majority showing support for an increase in the income tax personal allowance. Research from Family Investments revealed that 64 per cent of mothers would support an increase in income tax personal allowance, while 75 per cent are keen to see child benefit eligibility based on combined earnings of bother parents in a household. Meanwhile, 47 per cent would remove VAT from child essentials and 51 per cent would encourage employers to make better provisions for bother mothers and fathers to enjoy flexible working by introducing incentives. Kate Moore, head of savings and investments at the firm, commented: “Our second Mums' Budget shows that mums are still under huge financial pressure as families continue to struggle with every day costs. The fact that they would implement family friendly tax breaks is an example of the concerns and pressures mums have when it comes to handling their family's finances." She added that rising costs are increasing the pressure on families, as the country continues to struggle with high levels of inflation and largely stagnant income growth.
