Timber products traders asked to support woodland centre

Firms that trade in timber products, including wood panels distributors, in the London and South East area are being asked to support the construction of a new woodland centre in Southend.
The woodland centre is being proposed by several organisations as a great platform for educating local schools, families and communities about the local woodland. The £1.8 million Belfairs Woodland Centre has been designed by Inkpen Downie architects and will be located in the middle of Hadleigh and Daws Heath Ancient Woodlands Living Landscape Project.
However, funding is proving somewhat difficult to come by and local timber trade consultant, Geoff Rhodes, is calling upon local timber traders to contribute to the cost of building the timber-based structure.
So far funding has come from a diverse range of contributors, including the Heritage lottery Fund, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council and Network Rail. Now, some local timber merchants that sell products like Caberboard and Sterling OSB, which are both used in the construction of sustainable wooden buildings such as the woodland centre, have donated some cash to get the project off the ground, but more is still needed. This is according to Mr Rhodes, who is urging anyone interested in contributing to check out the Just Giving page.
